People: DJ Nitetrain

A True Boston Legend, Jerry Holloman Better Known as "DJ Nitetrain" is one of those characters you can never forget. Always with a huge smile on his face, his presence is always felt. For those who eat & breathe music, Chances are you've encounter Jerry more than once while looking for records at Looney Tunes in Back Bay. In fact, chances are he's found the record for you and suggested other gems you should take home. For most people, their experiences with the Nitetrain probably remain on the Subway, where Jerry Practices his sets charismatically to the cheerful audiences of the MBTA. Though for most, Jerry is a fun spectacle, to his credit, he is truly a great DJ and a living encyclopedia of Music. If you haven't had a chance to ever see him play, next time you see his name on a flyer, do yourself a favor and go Dance. Shout out to Thomas Lee. This was a great little documentary for a very large personality of our beloved Boston.

Event: FRANKIE BONES @ Rise

Photobucket
It's only April but it seems already like 2010 has been with us for a long long time. From the Craziness of the the Together Festival to the Insanity that was seeing Juan Atkins, to great performances by Omar S and Traxx, Boston keeps on hosting some of the best DJs, Electronic music has to offer. This time around our friends at Rise and the Casual Encounters crew bring you the legendary Frankie Bones!!! We've been hearing corridor rumors about this for months and it's so great to finally see this happening.

Frankie Bones is by many considered the Godfather of the American Rave. In a time when timing meant everything, the buzz of his early works caught the attention of the rapidly growing scenesters during the Summer Of Love in 1988. A year Later Frankie became the first American to DJ at those legendary Raves. "At 5.30am on the 26th August, 1989 Frankie Bones walked on stage in front of 25,000 people. The event was called "Energy", and was to go down in history. Fueled by this experience Frankie took it upon himself to start a scene in his native Brooklyn. These parties exploded, going from just a handful of people to 5,000 people in a warehouse, on September 19th 1992. These parties gave many of todays most revered DJ/producers their first taste: Sven Vath, Adam "X", Josh Wink, Richie Hawtin, Joey Beltram to name just a few".

For those of you new to the scene and for those who are veterans of the "Rave Days", this Friday is yet another chance to rejoice for the good times that passed and those which are yet to come. Expect Boston's best Soundsystem to lead you into the morning. Never been to Rise? It's on the corner of Berkeley and Stuart....You'll see the line, that's a guarantee. Opening Duties by Alan "the whole show" Manzi. James Gerard, Alex from Queens and Dave Weigner for your delight at the Lounge.

Video: A bunch of Wasted Talent.

Making us proud one orange line ride at a time!!! Congrats to Nabo Rawk & Paul Foley for this awesome Video. I'm gonna go ahead and assume "Wasted Talent" is about being talented while on Booze...perhaps not. Who cares. In a time when even Big Papi juices and Deval can't get anything passed through his squeaky voice, there ain't nothing better than strolling through town on the T. At least for our broke standards, that as much AC as we are getting on this recession Khed!

Video: New York, I Love You, but you're bringing me down...like a muppet.

This is most certainly our generation's New York New York...and although James Murphy is no Frank Sinatra or Lou Reed for that matter, there is no doubt this song is bound to become an anthem to all those who loved/love the City that never sleeps. Now that it's pretty much in vogue for indie rockers to be on sesame street or that Gabba Gabba show, it's nice to see someone taking the spirit of the frog... KErmit we love you!!! As a Red Sox Lover, Brubaker Drinking Bostonian (hehe) I'm ok with not having flashing lights and 24 hour bodegas or Woody Allen...All I need is that Dirty Water...

Beautiful Song...Hilarious Video...

Sports: Goodbye Manny Ramirez...Thanks for Everything.

Goodbye Manny. It was nice while it lasted. The Story of Manny Ramirez and the Red Sox ended today at Fenway Park, exactly a month since hitting his 500th Home run in the Major Leagues. Ironic isn't it? Either way, Good luck in LA...send our regards to Nomar Garciaparra & Derek Lowe. Which remind me...time to take Theo out of my Christmas mailing list...little fucker.

sad...sad...Day for Red Sox Nation

Mr. 500...will join the Hall of Fame in a blue uniform now and that sucks!

Ahhh....Fuck Theo!!!

Sports: NBA Champions Baby!!!

Finally!!! 22 years after Larry Bird led the Celtics to glory, Boston gets a chance to celebrate again. The Celtics took the Championship over the Lakers with a victory that screamed like humiliation. With a final score of 131-92, Pierce and the boys captured the NBA Championship in record fashion. "Boston's 39-point win is the most lopsided close-out triumph in Finals history, eclipsing the mark it set in 1965 also against the Lakers. Ray Allen also hit seven treys to set a new mark for most 3-pointers in a Finals series (22) and the Celtics' 18 steals were the most in a Finals contest".

Although we watched the Game at home, there was no way we would miss the celebration! So we got on the car and drove downtown to join our friends at the TAM to celebrate this well deserved victory. The photos and video should speak for themselves!!! THANK YOU CELTICS FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL SEASON!!!
