Video: Bounce Bounce Bounce!!!

wow...remember when we posted this a while ago? Those silly Canadians have been up to nothing but Shenanigans since then. However I'm having a hard time believing that doing a track with N.O.R.E gives you automatic street Cred (although it worked for the Neptunes). Well...I guess in Canada they think otherwise. So much so you have two masked Italians do your dirty work. MSTRKRFT...this is a huge: "REALLY??" If they keep this up their next colabo is gonna be with 50 cent.

Imagine that shit going down at Heartthrob...wouldn't that be something.

Music: Happy New Years!!! (Part 1)

It took years to hear back from these Crazy Danes, but now they are back and crazier than ever (well...let's just say they are back to business) with a new single on the uber cool, uber artsy German label Gomma. If you can't remember, the trio that is WHOMADEWHO hit the dance scene in 2005 with a live cover of Benny Benassi's Satisfaction (yeah, the one from the BK commercials). Anyways...let's celebrate their return with this New Year's Eve Party Mix...I'm pretty sure you'll be hearing from these fellows pretty damn soon.

Music: Really?

Oh boy...what ever happened to good graphic design for mediocre bands? oh yeah that's right...it never existed!!! Either way, this complete rip-off does not surprise us as much as this Cut Copy remix does (but in a good way...) We really never cared much about Maroon 5 and quite frankly why would you. Give this remix a go though...it's pretty much that nu-disco sound that's gonna populate our dance floors in '09...no seriously!!! If you read this blog, you know exactly what I'm talkin' about.

Music: Part of the NYE never dies!!!

Wow...The folks over at mixmag with yet another solid mix from Soulwax. I believe this might be the second. Last time we heard a mix from them on Mixmag, Justice was relatively new and the Erol Alkan Remix of Franz Ferdinand was hot bumping stuff... Digitalism did not have an LP yet but their tracks on Kitsune were playing all over the place. It was February 06 and while a lot of things change, a lot of them stay the same (but thank god for this tracklist!!!). It's almost time to go home for the holidays and wear that Rudolf Sweater (I know...), but relax, plug in your headphones and take a listen...You'll know exactly what you'll want your New Year's to be like!!!

Event/Lazy Sunday: Open Cycle rules!!!

Yo...What a great night we had at Middlesex with Boston's Cycling community. The Event turned out to be a massive party and a celebration to what's coming out next from the "open crew". DJ's Frank White & our Friend Brek. One brought the jams while Zack and the Crew brought the free Hats and Bags. Creep Street was in the House and some of the Tannery Fam also came by. Familiar Faces and many new ones...but I'm pretty sure we can handle that- as long as i got a 24oz. Red Stripe on my right hand (and if you didn't notice i tried to make this rhyme but i can suck at it and now i must part.) Anyways, If you are curious about how it all went down, go their website and check out the Mayhem! (and no, we are not talking about that DJ, or that Other DJ from back in the day). Yo guys...can we get a T-shirt too!!! (XL Black aight!!!)

ps: Where do DJ's come out with their names? They should always check out Discogs.com first (Jesus!!!)

Event: Wednesday in Cambridge!

Brenden Wesley and DJ Tom Tom throw it down tonight at the enormous room tonight with an arsenal full of Disco Edits, Classic House, Balearic Anthems and Well, just Funky swinging jams. Before you get all Dancy Prancy, Don't forget to run across the street too and check out Shayna Shenanigans' Art live Show at the Phoenix Landing. Music: I was caught In Flagranti!!! (Meaow)

...No not really but we did catch the In Flagranti bug and we can't rub it off. The Brooklyn duo has been making some really contemporary Disco at a time when the Disco Edit and retro vibes reign Supreme. No wonder the duo of Disco Virtuosos has been recently signed to Kitsune for the release of their 12" Single "Business Acumen"....and While Kitsune's been slacking lately, this release puts them back on track (at least for the time being) not to mention they've got Holy Ghosts to do a remix. Don't be fooled though, In Flagranti has been releasing material for years out of the label Codek and their Arsenal is strong enough to start a revolution. And If you read the Big Stereo Blog religiously like i do, you might have caught In flagranti's live set at Infatuation (from last May). if not, well here you go. "Business Acumen" out now on Kitsune. (Buy it here!)

Music: Riton's Warehouse Project!

If you guys aren't familiar with Mixmag, the UK Dance Music Magazine has included each month a free Mix CD or mixtape from some of the bigger names in the Industry for like 25 years now!!! For the past 15 years I've been reading the magazine and although trends come and go the quality if the content has always stayed legit (except for those awkward trance years). And just when i was giving up on all the Electro Glitch Shenanigans...boom!! A mix by Riton to make your ears bleed and your body get spasms. Although The Warehouse Project is from last July, I still think this one's a huge banger...Kinda reminds why electro kicks ass when played right...and not through USB controllers on a laptop. Better late than never i guess. Standout tracks here are Riton's Remix of Hercules & Love Affair (classic in the making), the Craziness of the Mr. Oizo's "Bruce Willis is Dead" the Alternate version of Surkin's White Knight and perfect ending with LFO's classic, LFO.

Riton - The Warehouse Project (mixmag mix)

TrackList:

01 Hercules And Love Affair - You Belong (Riton Remix)
02 Djedjotronic - Farandole
03 Eine Kleine Nacht Musik - La Serrenisma
04 Out Hud - Put It Away, Put It Away, Put It Away, Dad
05 In Flagranti - Business Acumen
06 Simian Mobile Disco - Nike + Sport Music Presents 'Run'
07 Mr Oizo - Bruce Willis Is Dead
08 The Martin Brothers - Dum (Hookerz & Blow Short Acid Mix)
09 Surkin - White Knight 2
10 A-Trak & Laidback Luke - Shake It DOwn
11 Late Of The Pier - Heartbeat (Hot Chip Remix)
12 The Micronauts - High Rise
13 Crookers - BigClub/FatAss (Jus For Riton Edit)
14 Action Man - Zombie Dance
15 LFO - LFO (Leeds Warehouse Mix)

Video: New York, I Love You, but you're bringing me down...like a muppet.

This is most certainly our generation's New York New York...and although James Murphy is no Frank Sinatra or Lou Reed for that matter, there is no doubt this song is bound to become an anthem to all those who loved/love the City that never sleeps. Now that it's pretty much in vogue for indie rockers to be on sesame street or that Gabba Gabba show, it's nice to see someone taking the spirit of the frog... KErmit we love you!!! As a Red Sox Lover, Brubaker Drinking Bostonian (hehe) I'm ok with not having flashing lights and 24 hour bodegas or Woody Allen...All I need is that Dirty Water...

Beautiful Song...Hilarious Video...
