Music: Puzique

I got this in the mail today. This is not a new track since it came out last year, but it's definitely getting a ton of play now in DJ Sets by people like Digitalism and the Ed Banger Crew. Puzique's "Don't Go" is out now on Boys Noize Records. This track is an obvious choice for electro DJs and even cross-overs well with the House crowd nolstalgic of that old school Chicago Trax sound . If you wanna get this track and other super cool "it" songs, go and find Ed banger's "it's gonna sell like hot cakes" mix cd on Mixmag this march. (anywhere where they sell import magazines).

Music: Rihanna And Klaxons @ 2008 Brit Awards

Well...if it wasn't for the Interweb, I would have missed this completely. Lucky for us we didn't. Rihanna and last years favorite "new ravers" performed Umbrella at the 2008 Brit Awards. Frankly I wished they had performed something else from her strong repertoire, but then again this was last years R&B hit. So....what's going on with the Klaxons' guardrobe? when they played Great Scott's last year they looked like your average hipster in skinny jeans who stank of booze and cigarettes. Well, I hope they go back to it... they are starting to look a little like the New York Dolls and Let's face it, that's not a good look (check the video).

Film: Danny Trejo is Da Man!!!

In case you're not familiar with Mr. Danny Trejo, He's the Baddest Mexican this side of the Border. Really, I triple dare you to IMDb him!!! Anyways...if you watched the latest flop that was Tarantino's Death Proof, you might however remember MACHETE. Apparently the movie is now going to be released because everyone has being begging Robert Rodriguez to make it a feature film. Sources say Even the Weinsteins approved the project but we'll see. Honestly, I can't wait for this to come true... but till then, enjoy these trailers (oh yes, the one in spanish too!!!) If you are a native speaker of el EspaƱol (and are not from Spain), you might get a kick out of it...It's too ridiculoso!!!

Yes...this shit is Dope!!!

(hahahhahahah!!!!)

Music: Soulwax on the Telly/ Knight Rider flops!

Last night we stayed home and watched in good company, the "Made-for-TV-movie-premiere" event that was Knight Rider. I'm really pressed to say that this remake for the "Google generation" did not work and quite frankly I would have rather seen David Hasselhoff starring in..."Knight Rider: The AA years" OR "Knight Rider: The Viagra Chronicles." Seriously...why not just make a remake of Baywatch? Babes in Bikinis never go out of style (unless you were not gay in the 90's and came out of the closet because of Queer eye for the Straight Guy... you get the point.)

In any case the real point of this post was to show that British TV is way cooler than ours. While were get stuck with American Gladiators (yet another re-make..that i secretly love), the BBC decides to show a whole feature on the "awesome Remix aficionados" that are Soulwax. You might know them from remixing everyone and their mother and if you know me well then you know that I own most of their remixes on vinyl. I'll give you a hint, I always play the one that has the "funky town" sample. What's fantastic about them is that they are (among with a few others), the maximum endorsers of playing electronic/dance music live in that "KC & the Sunshine band" way. For those who missed the chance to own such gems...you can purchase them in this "made for those who slept on it" compilation. You can try Newbury Comics, but i think the girl that works there already bought the copy...Moral of the story: DON"T SLEEP ON STUFF!!!

Oh wait...this from a show called The Culture Show? Damn Educated Brits and their awesome Telly!!!

Music: Why I love Vinyl....

I'm not gonna start Ranting about Serato and how DJs that only use mp3's are monkeys...but let's face it, nothing really compares to the sweet smell of Vinyl. In any case, serato is probably the future, but I might just be "too legit to quit". One more thing...Go support your local record store!!!(I'll try to post a more detailed feature about stores in Boston soon)In the mean time enjoy this little homage courtesy of the lovely Erykah Badu.

TV: In case you missed this....Kanye rocked the Grammys!!!

While we were out last night, we managed to miss the TV orgasm that was Kanye West with Daft Punk. Kudos though to Herbie Hancock for winning best album of the year but to me he'll always be better known for this. It's sad Kanye didn't win this category yet again, but then... neither did Amy "crack ain't wack" Winehouse. Either way...great performance even with the FCC friendly chopped up lyrics. And yes...bringing the French robots was such a classy move. Had they only thought of this when they played Coney island......awww that would have been like a boner on Viagra.

Film: Holy Crap...Mel Gibson is either the best actor or this was just an accident waiting to happen...

Wow....Have you guys seen the lovely "Conspiracy Theory" flick from like about 11 years ago? It featured a "red-headed" Julia Roberts and a "pre-rehab but possibly already anti semite" Mel Gibson. In a nut shell, the movie has Mel Gibson as a paranoid writer of a "conspiracy theory fanzine" who acts like he's either kinda retarded or just flat out forgot to take his Ritalin. It's like Nick Cage but better!!! Julia on the other hand plays the sexy lawyer working for the Justice department and Mel Gibson just happens to be her stalker!!! Honestly this movie had so many twists it was like watching the democratic primaries....oh snap! Well people...if you own a subscription to netflix or happen to find it at Walmart for $0.99, I recommend you watch it.... you won't regret it for like 1 minute. (ps: read this review in case I couldn't convince you...Jack gave this film a rating of 8 out of 10!!!...in 1997)And here Suckas is da trailah!!

And...this is the one for those with ADHD.

Sports: The Perfect Season...is over.

...And the winners of the XLII Super Bowl are...the New England....wait, did the Giants just win? oooohhh SNAP!!! So much for an undefeated season. Brady, what the hell is wrong with you? You just pulled a Tony Romo on us. Bringing the girl you're banging to the game is a party foul. But besides that...You guys just dumped the whole season away. Congratulations to the Giants today... at least they lived up to their name. What did you guys do for America?...exactly. I'd also like to congratulate our Mayor Tom Menino for being the biggest Douche in the greater Boston Area. Next time I need to organize a parade I'll know who to call. Let's hope next year you guys can get your head out of your ass and play some football.

Eli Manning...no longer Peyton Manning' s retarded brother.

Random: Air Barack!!!

My love for this guy just keeps growing day after day. Check this awesome video showing Obama's Skills on the hoops. Wait...is he wearing a #23 Jersey? I hope someone at Nike is watching this... I want Obama Kicks or even better...a Jordan Colabo!

Music: Best of 2007 that Pitchfork did not care about to include in the top 50.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is one of best albums that those bums at Pitchfork forgot to include in the top 50 for 2007. Frenchman Joakim is perhaps the best thing out of France that is not Daft Punk. While still electronic music, his sound is perhaps more similar to the Krautrock and Disco beats that DFA has been pitching since 2001. If you're sick of Justice, and you loved Sound of Silver, then you are probably gonna love "Monsters and Silly Songs". Listen to "I wish you were gone" and you'll know what I'm talking about. This album is Manifest Destitute recommended!!!
