Music: Ajello ft. Hard Ton - Chocolate Black Leather

Photobucket

Ajello has been around since the beginning of the actual "Italian" Italo Revival in the early 2000's and the good news is they are back with their second release on Danny Was A Drag King. Like the title didn't give it away, Chocolate Black Leather "is an orgy of vintage synths, bouncy bass and a sure winner for the Italo disco fans. To that one more touch of sleaze, Ajello enlisted "House Diva" Hard Ton to make that chocolate erupt. NYC "Disco Royalty" Brennan Green on the remix duties with just the right amount of 303 to send everything to "acid disco paradise". ACID DISCO PARADISE...we couldn't agree more.

Music: Runaway seen in Chinatown!!!

As we eat some spectacular House Special Fried Rice (ironic huh) we present to you Runaway's newest mix promoting their latest 12" single on Brennan Green´s Chinatown imprint. "Alberg 30" is a dark new disco track with lethal synths that borderline that Jacking Chicago Sound we've come to love so much over the years. Runaway's mix is likewise a bangin' House Mix that just pretty much explains why they were voted NYC's best DJ's by paper magazine. Sometimes it's good to be darlings of the underground, but this mix is definitely one for the big leagues...and I'm not just saying that cuz they are playing at Fabric for Valentine's day (...but you get the idea). Enjoy lovers, enjoy!

Music: Runaway...Live @ Akult (The complete Set)

Although our Friends Jacques and Marcos of Runaway are currently in Quebec sipping red wine (hopefully not from a pbr can this time) and probably over indulging on Poutine with Brennan Green, Let's not forget their memorable set at Akult from about a month or so ago. Although the night didn't end at the Goodlife Bar, here for y'all is the set that was played that day. Resident's Brenden Wesley and John Barrera provide the tunes on Part One, while the boys of Runway kill it on Part Two. If you missed the gig, well no worries. Here's some candy for you! Enjoy...

Music/Event: Runaway comes to Akult!!!

Photobucket
After their big debut on DFA, Brooklyn's Jacques Renault and Macros Cabral (aka Runaway) are back in Boston to give us one more night of Disco infused sounds at Akult's Disco Emporium (@ the Goodlife bar). If you haven't heard their track yet, "Brooklyn Club Jam takes elements from old school house, acid, and disco and melds them together into a chugging dancefloor mover that'll work at both the sophisticated club and the grimey warehouse"- And trust me, the folks at NY's Turntable Lab know EXACTLY what they are talking about. Here at Manifest Destitute we've been listening to this track for a minute now and we love it, but we are definitely grooving more to Brennan Green's version. It's all you want to expect from a House music piano riff, the Disco drums from heaven and a bass line so catchy you'd wish it was the beginning to "funky town". I hope DFA stops making singles this good, because it's really not fair to my pocket. I need to pay my rent and GOD knows James Murphy ain't paying my bills. Oh, did I forget to mention Runway are coming this Saturday to Goodlife in an all DFA Records sponsored event? What?...Get out of here!!! But for real, don't miss the party of the Fall this Saturday. The event will be brought to you by the good folks at WERS, The Weekly Dig, our friends at LAB and of course the Akult Disco crew. See ya Guys there (we'll be in the corner by the right speaker!) and don't forget to bring your dancing shoes!!!

Events: Gearing up for the weekend!

Photobucket
Saturday: Akult ft. Brennan Green

It's that time of the month again when we put on a nice pair of jeans, possibly a clean shirt, and some nice shoes to impress the ladies and the dudes. Like every month, we are gonna head over to Goodlife for what will be an awesome night of Disco Dancing courtesy of Akult, with special guests Brennan Green from Chinatown Records
and Turntable Lab's Cool Gypsy Bogdan. The First time I heard of Brennan Green was 3 years ago through a remix he did for Output's Lopazz. In recent years he's gone to remix bigger acts like the legendary Liquid Liquid and disco nostalgic Lindstrom. Brennan's genre bending DJ-sets are sure to rock any dance floor taking a crowd through sounds that span Disco, House, Techno and Rock. So be sure you head over to Goodlife this Saturday because you won't wanna miss this. Opening the Disco Ceremony our friends Brenden Wesley and Scott Bliss.

Friday: Shitstorm!

Our friend Carl Robinson of the Band Shitstorm was here last weekend visiting from Brooklyn. We spent most of the day looking for kicks and talking about photography (of which i know nothing) and music. He mentioned his band was playing a show this week but he's always too humble to really plug himself, so this is where we come in. Shitstorm is one of those bands that have a deceiving name. I mean what would a Shitstorm actually sound like? Lucky for us, their music is actually appealing to the human ear despite all the toilet jokes we could make. You know...they actually remind me of the band Grey...yeah, the one led by Jean Michel Basquiat and a pre-pubescent Vincent Gallo. Maybe it's because they are from Brooklyn, maybe it's because they carry on a legacy of experimental music that doesn't suck. Either way...if you like experimental music worthy of the ICA (but wanna have the comfort of a PBR in your hand), then head over to the P.A's Lounge this Friday. I'll be there....and so should you.
