Video: Holy Ghost - Hold My Breath
It seems like an eternity ago that we first wrote about Holy Ghost! It was the end 2007 and "Hold On" marked their first release on DFA [post-Automato]. That Track was perhaps their calling, not only an immersion into Disco, but most importantly into the Analog Synths that define their sound and their unique brand of Pop. In 2008 & 2009 they became the Remixers Du Jour, completing works for established artists like Moby & Cut Copy. Last Year it was their Break as Artists. Their trial at becoming a band and not just a production duo came pretty quickly. By the time they declared their Love for New Order in their "I will come back" Video, it was clear what was to come. Now in 2011, they have toured America once, and now going on their own as headliners. This Video for "Hold my Breath" is perhaps a good recollection of their story; The sort of tale that HBO's "How to make it in America" tries to convey to the masses and somehow misses the point. The Story of Holy Ghost! is not a coincidence...and for better or for worse, New York City stills seems to be that magical place. This Video is simply, more than just a testimony, it is in fact a reality.

People: DJ Nitetrain
A True Boston Legend, Jerry Holloman Better Known as "DJ Nitetrain" is one of those characters you can never forget. Always with a huge smile on his face, his presence is always felt. For those who eat & breathe music, Chances are you've encounter Jerry more than once while looking for records at Looney Tunes in Back Bay. In fact, chances are he's found the record for you and suggested other gems you should take home. For most people, their experiences with the Nitetrain probably remain on the Subway, where Jerry Practices his sets charismatically to the cheerful audiences of the MBTA. Though for most, Jerry is a fun spectacle, to his credit, he is truly a great DJ and a living encyclopedia of Music. If you haven't had a chance to ever see him play, next time you see his name on a flyer, do yourself a favor and go Dance. Shout out to Thomas Lee. This was a great little documentary for a very large personality of our beloved Boston.

Event: Supply Records Release Party (NYC)
It's been a while since we've actually written something here, but in many ways this really is a special occasion to break the ice. Our Friends John Barera and Soren Jahan started a project about a year ago called B-Tracks. Today their Debut 12" titled "Specialize" does just that, as it specializes in Bringing forward their love for House & Techno music. It's no surprise that a certain man by the name of Kenny Dixon Jr. was the first person to be given a test press of this hotly tipped & very limited 12". The EP will receive it's release party in Brooklyn tonight at Public Assembly. To round out the Party, B-Tracks enlisted Boston's own Brenden Wesley as well as Marcos Cabral of Runaway & Ron Morelli of L.I.E.S for what is gonna be more of a celebration than just a Dance Party. Music: Peach Melba - Can't Let Go
After the successful release of his DJ Kicks mix, It's almost safe to say Juan Maclean might be a little more than a house music aficionado and Peach Melba might be more than just a sweet reminder of what he sounds as a DJ. This might in fact be, "His Definition of House". Can't Let Go contains the elements of what contemporary House music is all about...an ode to yesterday with a foot in the future. In a world where we venerate the ghosts of Chicago & Detroit, it's so refreshing to discover that the vocals are the Product of Boston-Based Singer Amy Douglas and not "samples of sampled" Divas of the Past. In Short, while we are fans of Juan Maclean the "Band"...for now I think we want to be regular visitors of his "Maison"...and yes, that's French for HOUSE.
“Can’t Let Go” by Peach Melba available on 12″ July 18th via DFA Records.

Music: 33Hz - Under The Sun (Prins Thomas Diskomiks)
"Sometimes the best way to start a movie is with the end credits. Under the Sun is kinda like that. It’s an ode to looking back at a beautiful day, a beautiful summer, or a beautiful life. It's the warm sensation of feeling complete, the hand you wave in the air, roof down, driving your 64 on a road to your next adventure. In musical terms, this means silky vocals flirting with your nostalgic senses, a warm bassline, gentle guitar licks, a caressing melody, and a lot of hope. It's sunny dream pop with a tear of rain".....that my friends was the press release. How could we compete with that? Jokes apart the song lends itself for a great Remix and for this, 33Hz enlists one of the top remixers in Disco. The Diskomiks is the guarantee that Prins Thomas is gonna deliver a floor stomper. While this might not come at the peak of the night, it is however the track you might end with...then look at that special someone, and know that it was a good summer night. It's Friday...it's gonna be warm. You know the drill.

Video: Moodymann - Los Angeles
Nice video posted by the folks at Mochilla "because it ain't what you do, it's how you do"...wise words.
Music: Ajello ft. Hard Ton - Chocolate Black Leather
Ajello has been around since the beginning of the actual "Italian" Italo Revival in the early 2000's and the good news is they are back with their second release on Danny Was A Drag King. Like the title didn't give it away, Chocolate Black Leather "is an orgy of vintage synths, bouncy bass and a sure winner for the Italo disco fans. To that one more touch of sleaze, Ajello enlisted "House Diva" Hard Ton to make that chocolate erupt. NYC "Disco Royalty" Brennan Green on the remix duties with just the right amount of 303 to send everything to "acid disco paradise". ACID DISCO PARADISE...we couldn't agree more.
